Centra Software

Documentation Manager 1996 - 1997

Centra Software is now part of Saba and developed Symposium, one of the very first distance learning products that took advantage of corporate intranets to deliver live, instructor led and asynchronous training through PCs.

As documentation manager I was an integral part of the team that designed this revolutionary product. I actively participated in defining the interface and information flow, and designed several key features and components. I hired two writers over the course of 18 months.

Centra's Symposium was a browser-based application written 100% in Java. I designed and implemented an integrated browser-independent online help system written in HTML and JavaScripts. We shipped with Version 1.0 on time in June, 1997.

I also designed a bound document set and personally wrote quick reference materials and manuals for Instructors, Students, and Course Builder. In 18 months, we supported two versions of the product with high quality manuals and online help.

I was also the lead demo-er of Symposium at several trade shows and conferences.
